On behalf of all my colleagues I would like to welcome you to the Northern Deanery. I sincerely hope that your time with us will be immensely satisfying from both a personal and professional perspective.

As a Deanery we are all committed to ensuring that you receive the highest quality training, supervision and support in your chosen career. Postgraduate training is an exciting challenge and your choice of the Northern Deanery should enable you to achieve your aspirations.

The North East and Cumbria is a very diverse region encompassing areas of outstanding natural beauty interspersed with cities with great industrial heritage. This diversity brings with it the challenges of healthcare delivery; rural and urban practice with a legacy of poor health and lifestyle, but also high expectation from local people and their communities. Our healthcare teams are immensely proud of their work and have been recognized as delivering the best performing health services in the country. As a trainee in our region you will be part of this and I am grateful to you for the contribution that you will make towards this excellence.

We live and work in a world and health service that is constantly changing. As a Deanery we will be at the forefront of that change; directing, leading and participating. We want you to be part of that experience also.  In coming to our region you have made an excellent choice.
